For therapists and other healers, COVID19 has compelled us to forego the intimacy and connection of the in-person encounter in favor of the safer distance of a connection mediated by screens, headphones, and microphones.
As we adjust to this different way of working, an adjustment that for some of us was very abrupt and unplanned-for, some of us are struggling to rediscover our footing as therapists and healers.
The foundation of the healing connection is the emotional attunement between healer and client. When we are not in the same room, and our connection beset by connection lags and technological disruptions, this attunement may feel harder to achieve.
In service to this difficult time, I want to offer a place for therapists and healers to name and witness the parts of us that are struggling with telehealth, and to do experiential practice on a way of listening and being with the client that I have found useful in reconnecting and attuning, drawing from my training as a therapist and spiritual facilitator.
